OUTREACH
HWIC is motivated to engage with communities beyond Harvard and promote awareness of and support for women in chemistry. Our programs include in-person and virtual events in addition to teaching/mentoring opportunities in collaboration with local organizations.
Current Programs
Science Club for Girls: We work closely with SCFG and have had a few guest appearances on their weekly online show "SCFGLive" (vaccines, homemade pH probe). Before COVID, we hosted a group of SCFG girls and their mentors for a morning of experiments in a Harvard teaching lab and are hopefully able to continue this soon!
Science at Home: We designed chemistry experiments for kids to be able to run experiments and learn about science from their own home. See our experiments here!
Cambridge Science Festival Booth!
Cambridge Public Library: We host mini "science workshops"where we make demos and get to show local kids about having fun with science!
