HARVARD
WOMEN+ IN CHEMISTRY
(HWIC+)

MISSION STATEMENT

Our group has historically been dedicated to addressing issues concerning the representation and quality of life of women+ in STEM fields, particularly chemistry. We aim to cultivate a supportive community within our department and strive to promote equity and inclusion, particularly for gender-based issues, in the Harvard Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology and the greater chemistry community. We have recently revised the language of our name to more accurately represent our goals. We seek to be an inclusive community and a platform for all those who are marginalized on the basis of gender, which may include cis and trans women and non-binary people. Therefore, "WIC+" has been added to emphasize that we welcome anyone who supports our mission.

CORE VALUES

  • Building and supporting our community

  • Working and growing together

  • Respecting one another

  • Promoting mental and physical wellbeing
